Though my wife would shoot me with it if I brought information technology home, I am looking at a Remington r15. Any reviews? The but hang up I take seen with it is the trigger but I am guessing that is a standard effect with the platform. I am a princess almost triggers, so it might be a deal breaker. Besides, what is a good price on i? Edited past Yoteless in Ohio (02/09/12 11:13 PM) | |

I'yard sure at that place are amend AR'due south, but mine is very authentic and does everything I want it to. I am going to modify the trigger, though. It's not terrible, only not the all-time. |

Die Hard Member Registered: 01/26/09 | I built my own, a buddy new to the game bought a 18" barreled R15 VTR (IIRC) and had me set it upwardly for him, mount telescopic sight information technology in etc. As a general rule I clean every new gun inside and out to remove any manufacturing plant packing oils etc that may gum upwardly the action or trigger associates. I noticed in this process that the fire control grouping in the R15 seemed pretty... well for lack of a ameliorate word "chincy". It was all metal, but it was nowhere near as robust as my milspec build. I am non one of those guys that everything HAS to be milspec and all that only I trust steel barstock over tubing anyday. That said, the burglarize shot dandy and had a better trigger pull than mine. Seem to be bully rifles, and realistically yous'll never probably demand the beefier parts of a milspec AR unless you become the permits for full auto fire or get dumped into the sandbox. If the R15 is exactly what you want, go for it considering it is a nice rifle. If yous find yourself thinking yous might want a couple things changed, build your own. One thing to think nigh if you're OCD similar me is that information technology will be near impossible to friction match that camo if you want to switch stocks, grips, or forearms. If you're a tinkerer, build it. If y'all just want an off the shelf rifle that works, the R15 is for y'all. |

Seasoned Member Registered: 02/21/11 | I bought a used R-15 off of this site final year for a buddy of mine. It was a solid shooter in manufacturing plant class but it became a dandy shooter when I installed a Rock River 2-phase friction match trigger in it. Made all the difference. The R-15 is a solid option. If you like it dont hesitate. You could do much worse. _________________________ |

Die Hard Member Registered: 01/06/12 | Thanks for the comebacks. I would probably want to change the trigger then as I am used to my 2.5 pound no creep rifle triggers. At present to just convince the wife....she does non like the idea of the ar platform. She is Canadian and they don't get it up there. She ok'd a browning bar but they are definitely more expensive and the one I desire is hard to come by. And not near as cool looking. |

Predator Master Registered: 08/08/08 | Every bit some accept already stated just modify the trigger out for a better 1 and you lot volition be good to go. There are a lot of aftermarket triggers out there. ARGold, Timney, JP, RRA , Just a few of the many options. I put jp springs into my RRA trigger to get to the 2,5lbs pull but information technology is still a 2 phase trigger. |

Die Hard Member Registered: 01/06/12 | I was going to inquire nigh accuracy. I am looking at the smaller lighter one, tin can't think the model. I think they chosen it carbine. That will bear on accuracy with a short barrel. My current .223 is a tack driver. Hoping to become something that will print reasonable groups. I am looking for information technology for close combat in the forest anyways, so I gues it isn't that important. What kind of groups are you getting with a stock gun and trigger? |

Die Hard Member 2 Registered: 12/21/05 | The accuracy is enough good for coyote hunting. The only existent upgrade I tin can see correct away would be the trigger. You can shoot the factory i as it is non as bad as some, but you will want to eventually upgrade it. _________________________ |

Die Hard Member with a vengeance Registered: 12/10/11 | They are pretty salty. You are buying the proper noun and camo. You can exercise information technology cheaper with quite a few dissimilar manufacturers. They are a good gun, simply im a cheap skate, and its fun to build your own. |
